MK3.9 kit missing heatsink thermistor - can I use old hotend thermistor instead?

I am about two thirds through the upgrade process and cannot find the NTC 100k thermistor that goes into the Nextruder heastsink (step 21 of section 5). And yes, I have looked absolutely everywhere multiple times. I have contacted Prusa about it but have yet to even receive an acknowledgement of my emails. Meanwhile, my winter vacation marches on and I would really like to finish the upgrade and be able to start printing before my vacation ends. So here's my question to the forum:

Can the thermistor from the MK3S+ hotend be substituted for the MK3.9 heatsink thermistor? I realize I would have to shorten the wires and solder on a compatible connector, but given that, are they equivalent thermistors? There are no markings on the old thermistor and the product page does not identify it as NTC 100k, so I hesitate to just plug it in and see what happens. I may be impatient, but I try not to be stupid impatient. 😋

My 3.9 kit had the nextruder hot end assembled with both the heater and the thermistor in position.
do you have two cables and connectors on your hot end assembly?

Hi Joan, thanks for the reply. The hot end is complete, I'm talking about the thermistor that goes in the heatsink.

However! While I would still like to know the answer to my question for my own curiosity, after I wrote this, I did hear back from Prusa saying they would send me a replacement. Hopefully it will come soon. 😊
