Upgrade for my MK2S, and still happy

To all,

Just to let you know how happy I am with my upgrade's

Placed an enclosure (with Ikea glas door) around the printer. Placed my printer on a concrete pave stone and placed the pave stone up some silicone rubbers (leftover from the old toilet seat:). Placed the PSU outside the enclosure and placed an Ikea box on top of the enclosure for the filament.

Placed 12 rare magnets under the heatbed with heat resistant tape and because the Double-sided Textured PEI Powder-coated Spring Steel Sheet, where not available in the beginning, I made some sheets from ordinary sheet steel with a PEI sheet on top. This week I received the Double-sided Textured PEI Powder-coated Spring Steel Sheet and this works great.

Also I ordered Prusament filament (PLA and PETG) en that is some quality!! Really great stuf. Just calibrate your extruder (PETG was 11mm under the 100mm) , place the new E value in the filament code (M92 Exxx.x) and it works great.

So I am stil very happy with my "outdated" MK2s, with the Gussner fw (9 points bedlevel correct possibility).

Happy printing

Frans

You can also buy a MKS gen 1.4 / L and use https://github.com/cimoalpacino/Prusa-Firmware/tree/MK2S_3.9.0_RAMPS and tmc 2100 stepper drivers

Hi,

I have upgraded two MK2s with magnets and made my own steel sheets with prusa PEI and lokbuild. When the Prusa textured springsteel sheets where available I ordered them. It works very good!! Textured for PETG and PEI/Lokbuild for PLA (PLA will not stick very well on the textured sheet, is my experience)

I bought the magnets from Alie. They are round 20 mm and 5 mm thick. Just look at Alie and choose magnets that can resist 100 degrees celcius.

For gluing I used Deltafix double sided tape (19 mm) art. nr 248 (-40 to + 120 degrees celcius).

I mounted 11 magnets under the pcb heatbed and removed the original PEI sheet. Before gluing, chose the locations carefully, otherwise the magnet will interfere with the calibration points in the heatbed. The XY calibration will not work (I have to replace 2 mangets 🙂

When gluing the magnets be sure you place them all in the same direction. Before gluing I marked all the magnets, so I couldn't make a fault.

The heatbed can easliy be dismounted by unscrewing the 4 screws at the edges and the 2 screws in the middle. Turn the bed over and you can very easy glue the magnets.

Hope this will help you
