Filament retracts after color change

I have been using Simplify3D with my printer and always get good prints. My trouble is that when I "pause" the print to change the color, I use the "Unload" and "Load" filament selections on the printer, then click resume in S3D. The printer head goes back to last position and then the filament retracts about 9 or 10 mm before is resumes printing. This causes an area to not be printed well and not well bonded. I have looked into all sorts of adjustments and none have worked yet. It's like the "Unload" causes a 100mm retract and the "Load" causes a 110mm extrude. When the system resumes, it "takes back" the extra 10mm to get back to the pausing point to start printing again. So far the best I have come up with is to jog the controls and get 8 clicks on the -10 button, which will get it clear of the extruder. Then get 8 clicks on the 10 button to re-load the new color. Is there ANY better way to do this?

Thanks, Doug

At a loss as to why you don't just use the M600 change filament command. You should be able to manually insert that into whatever code S3D produces.

You may also want to give the current beta Slic3r a trial - it is not the same Slic3r we were all using six months ago.
