Bearings
Hello all! I've recently built my MK2S and I am really enjoying it so far. The one issue that I have is that the Y movements cause a lot of noise that comes from the bearings on the carriage. I am considering changing them out for Igus Drylin bearings. Either the RJ4JP or the RJZM models in the 8mm inner diameter. Has anybody here used them and would care to share their experiences?
Re: Bearings
There are differnt opinions out there.
I am happy with RJ4JP 0108 in my MK2S as I was mith my previous printers.
In combination with this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2732534
you most certainly will be quite happy...
Re: Bearings
last week, I lubed my old mk2 linear bearings and tightened the Y belt, and the noise diminished greatly...
I have some Igus bearings to try, but can't think where I put them safely, I am confident that they aren't with the Ubolts, that I also put in a safe place!, but I don't know where they are either...
I claim early onset dementia...

Re: Bearings
Thank you guys for your suggestions! I might just try to lube them for now and see what happens. Any suggestions for grease or lube?
Re: Bearings
Don't use IGUS bearings. I've put RJ4JP (which are supposed to be the ones that work without press fit) on my Y axis and they have massive slop.
Re: Bearings
I used lithium general purpose grease on one printer and silicon firearms grease on another, no obvious difference in operation

RE: Bearings
I swapped out to IGUS bearings. I originally used RJ4JP-01-08 on all axis's. I found I had binding issues on the Y-axis on my MK2S. I think this was because I tightened the u-bolts too tight. On a MK2, I don't think you'd have that issue because you're using zipties instead. So, I moved to RJZM-01-08's instead (same thing, but they're sheathed with aluminum). My binding issues disappeared. The other axis's never had the binding issues, so I only replaced the Y-axis bearings.
