Z axis jumping and weird noises
Hi there
I recently purchased a prusa i3 mk2s kit.
I have done a few prints of the pre installed models which came out great.
I am now printing some of my own designs and noticed with this print in particular the z axis keeps jumping and making weird electronic noises (my partner says it sounds like a silly wonka machine).
The jumps seem to happen at the same intervals on each layer. It does not appear to have affected the model. Is this within the norm of this machine?
I am using prusa control to slice and the designs were made in blender.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a newbie to the 3d printing world
Cheers
Evan
Re: Z axis jumping and weird noises
Looks like this is the standard Z-Hop that's in the Slic3r profile. Whenever the printer needs to make a move to a new line, it'll lift Zed and lower it again in the new starting location. From what I understand, it'll help reduce model damage from oozing or dragging, and might help reduce stringing.

Thanks Kelly.j for the reply
Glad to hear it's just a setting. Prusa control must have it turned on for this model.
As I said the print came out near perfect with little to no stringing so had my suspicions it was ok but wanted to make sure
