Z axis endstop not activating (Help!)

Hi,

I've been using the i3 MK2 for 4 days and 9 hours without mishap, printing with PLA and XT-CF20.
I tried to start an ABS print just now and the bed leveling went nuts, trying to push through the bed and leaving a hole in the PEI surface from the 255°C nozzle and pulling the Z axis off level. After reset, I re-leveled the z axis and tried the self-test, resulting in "z axis endstop not reached" error message.

How is this possible? The machine hasn't been moved, I maintain the bed surface and all moving parts, the print this morning was perfect as usual... Do PINDA prodes 'die'? How do I find out what the cause is and how to fix it?

Thanks,
Kryssie

Unfortunately , yes they do. Usually a cable break just behind the extruder; the upgraded cable management of the Mk2S is designed to fix exactly this issue.

The constant movement at the point behind the extruder where the probe cable turns 90 degrees to enter the cable bundle can cause internal cable breaks which can be intermittent.

It is possible to repair this, but it may be better to get a replacement. Depending on how long you have had the printer, you could contact support ("Live Chat") or simply buy a replacement from the shop.

I am planning to modify the the x-axis carriage to replace the sharp 90 degree corners with a mm or two radius. First, I have to learn some Opencad!
