y belt - geometry error?

Because of the different diameters of the motor pulley and the idler pulley the belt parts can't be in parallel. That's ok.

But the upper driving part of the belt should be in parallel to the slider axis. Right now the belt is "going down" from the belt holder to the motor pulley.
Especially when the slider is near the 0 position. It looks like 25 degree maximum. ( On the original i3 the motor pulley and the belt holder didn't come so close)

Wouldn't it be much better to move the y motor up by 2-3 millimeters so the upper belt would run perfectly parallel?

Re: y belt - geometry error?

Hi Thomas

I really don't think that matters too much, although your suggestion may help. The biggest problem I have noted (on both X and Y motors) is that when the belt is tight enough, the motors are twisted because the mounts are not strong enough. This causes belt rubbing and wear on the side at the end of the spindle and makes it impossible to properly align the belts laterally,
