Y-Axis woes
I upgraded my printer, and I've really been enjoying the new features! However, I feel like it's taken a step backwards in one aspect. My belt has slipped out of the belt holder on a few occasions. It happened several times at first, but then I thought I really had it locked down until last night in the middle of a 12-hour print the belt popped out again and killed the print. In the MK1 the belt holders had teeth, so once in it took a great deal of effort to remove them, but on the new design it doesn't take much effort to pull the belt out. If I pull hard enough straight back to tighten the belt (to get a good ping), it's difficult to not cause the other end of the belt to slip out. Is it possible that my belt holder 3d print isn't quite right? I've checked that the orientation of the belt is the same as what the guide shows countless times. I'm debating gluing the belt to ensure that it stays, but I'm looking for the input from others first. Is anyone else having belt issues?

I'm almost sure you have assembled it wrong. Belt holder doesn't need any teeth, because the belt itself got teeth and those are used to secure the belt.

I agree with David. If it is correct and you're still having the problems you could always add zip-ties just outside the y-axis belt holder.

I'll post a pic of how I have them when the printer isn't printing - which if everything goes well will be in about eight hours. I certainly get how it's supposed to work, and on the X-Axis I'm not having any issues. I've checked that the belt is pressed all the way back, thinking that the holder would then be applying maximum pressure on both sides of the belt to press the teeth of the belt together, but it's still quite easy to pull belt loose while tightening.

Well, my print just failed after the belt slipped. Here's a pic of the belt and holder. I appreciate all the help and input.

The gap between belt teeth looks strange. I'm sure I got no gap there. As richard said, add zip tie around belt to hold teeth together and try to print spare Y-belt-holder from source STL. The gap on belt holder should be 2.1 mm.

This looks way better! Thanks for the input. It's good to know that I wasn't crazy! 😀 It's way tighter now and the other side doesn't try to pop out while I'm tightening the belt.
