XYZ calibration failure (out of nowhere)

I have an MK2 that was upgraded to MMU, but this problem appears to be fundamental to the MK2. After having had no issues with prints for months, my printer starting acting up recently, and I noticed a number of prints had a layer shift in the Y-axis. After troubleshooting, I noticed that the Y-axis belt was extremely loose, so I went through the steps to add proper tensioning. Subsequently, I went to complete the XYZ calibration, and I took the opportunity to upgrade firmware to 3.1.0.

After Y-axis tensioning, the auto-home left the PINDA probe slightly forward of the first calibration point, so I followed instructions here ( http://help.prusa3d.com/mk2-movement-calibration/172660-p-i-n-d-a-probe-misaligned?from_search=19729301 ) for a front-shift. After a slight adjustment of the Z frame positioning, the PINDA probe centered perfectly. Next, I reset the XYZ calibration (after reading old data may corrupt new calibrations), performed a selftest (everything okay), and then onto the XYZ calibration.

Consistently, the calibration would make it through all 4 points in iterations 1 and 2, and on iteration 3, the calibration would fail on the 4th point (left), with the error message "XYZ calibration failed. Please consult the manual." There is certainly no friction between the nozzle and bed, so I haven't adjusted the PINDA probe height, so now I'm at a loss as to how to proceed here. I did notice a bit of wear-and-tear on the Y-axis belt, so I've ordered a spare length, but again, the printer was working just fine until I reset the belt tension and tried to recalibrate.

Any advice?

You are not alone.
Getting the same problem for the same reason.

Getting the same problem for the same reason.

Your problem is not at all what he described. It doesn't help to mix two issues.
