X-carriage belt wear

Hi,

I'm having some issues with my i3Mk2. The toothed belt seems to rub against the front side of the idler pulley, to the point where it's starting to shed some material from the belt after a couple of 100 hours of printing. My theory was that I didn't get the X and Y axis perpendicular, and I rechecked my measurements and brought it in a bit tighter. However, my printer was calibrating ok before the change, and now it complains that the left front calibration point can't be reached, so I guess I adjusted it in the wrong "direction"? Any help would be gladly appriciated since I can't measure the axis skew at this point, I'm within 0,05 mm on the 100 mm measurement.

Re: X-carriage belt wear

If you're getting X-axis belt wear on the sides of the belt from rubbing, you may have the belt too tight or too loose. If the belt is too tight, it will put too much pressure on the motor mount and and warp it. Try loosening the belt by a couple teeth and see if that helps. The belt should be tight enough that its not drooping, but not too tight that it pulls the motor mount out of shape.

If your motor mount is is warped and won't return to normal position, print another one and see if that helps.

Re: X-carriage belt wear

This was happening to me. It looks like the x carriage does not align with the x-axis idler very well. I remixed the Prusa part to be adjustable.
