X axis grinding

Hello I recently completed my build, everything seems to be working but I am getting a weird grinding sound when moving X axis, video below. I stepped away while it was calibrating one time and this caused it to push nozzle into the bed :(.

Anyone seen this before? Any help is appreciated!

Re: X axis grinding

Sounds like your NEMA Motor pully is loose. I would double check that. I would also recommend performing these tests with a Z height of 90 so that the bed can't be part of the cause.

Also make sure that at least one of the set screws is on the flat spot of the motor shaft.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Re: X axis grinding

Pulley looks good. Linked video shows that the pulley turns together with motor shaft all the time.
I suspect X-belt is too tight.

Re: X axis grinding

so i took the bearing out one at a time and tried one at a time to troubleshoot. Each one was doing it. So I retied them really tight, and put some white silicon grease on the rod, and it is working amazing now and very quitie. I hope this won't damage it but so far over 12 + hours of printing.

Sounds like you may want to consider replacing them with SKF LBBR 8-2LS bearings. I just finished replacing all my LM8UU bearings with these and am seeing zero artifacts now. My X-axis bearings were ratting, now they are silent.

Great advice, and i'm happy to say that night before I fixed it I thought it was bearing issue and ordered about 10, so hope this will last till I get them. I also ordered some new rods that are of a better material. Thanks for the help!
