Wrong Filament Color with Kit Order
I ordered my kit on November 29th and was given a choice of filament color. I chose Yellow, but the kit just arrived with the off-white Ivory color instead. My invoice clearly states Yellow as the selection. Is this happening to everyone else as well?
Customer Service said "The free filament choice is subject to availability." This is disappointing because I was counting on the Yellow colored filament. And I do not buy the "it's free" so you get whatever we give you. Just like how the tools and jelly delight in the kit are not free. We all paid for everything that arrives in the box and we paid to ship all of those items as well.

Well I chose black with my kit and got silver, so I really don't know why they are even bothering to let people choose color 🙂

Some time back there was an announcement stating that the color choice for the free filament has been done away with because it turned out to be causing issues/delays (I don't remember the exact wording).
If I was faced with:"ok, we can finally ship the printer (the one you've been waiting on for what felt like half a eternity) now or we wait further X weeks till we get color x back in stock", my answer would always be: screw the color, just toss in whatever you got. Heck, i'd say: screw the filament entirely if that gets me my printer even sooner.
PS: Is it any good, that Prusa PLA? I never bothered to open the one that came with my kit.

The filament that came with my Mk2 kit from Prusa has been working really good and I have good luck with my ABS as well.
using Slic3r from Prusa and their settings, did have to change the "Live Z offset" for ABS but I hear that is normal,
I just wrote down the number for the PLA and changed it back and it worked as before.

I believe the current status is " Any colour you like as long as it's silver PLA... "
Maybe taking a leaf out of Mr Ford's book!
However I will also take any colour in order to get the printer faster...

It is kind of funny, when I ordered my kit I chose the silver, but when it arrived it was the same off-white that the OP mentioned. It didn't matter to me, but it seems they may have ran out of the silver, at least for awhile.

This started happening even earlier than that. It's filament. If you really wanted a certain color, they could have delayed your order until the right color came in. I'd rather have the printer and whatever filament (youll blow through that in days) than haggle over color.
It's not like they did anything shady, and explained in various ways since then too.

Thanks for everyone's input. I wanted to know if I was the only one that this happened to.
I was never told by the company that their policy had changed. I wish they had alerted people directly about the changes through email. Anyway, it's not the end of the world. It was just a disappointing surprise after waiting for the printer for a long time.

My printer (assembled) had a delay before christmas due to running out of black PLA. I was in contact with support about the transport date and they said they are out of black but had lots of silver PLA in stock. To be honest i did not care what colour the PLA was. I do not make art pieces.
Soon after that the shop "free" PLA colour option changed to silver to everybody. I remember reading about all "free" PLA shipments changed to silver at some point (facebook maybe).

I am surprised that Prusa don't just say that the free filament will be random colours....

I've ordered the MK2 because I want an awesome machine - and filament is €25 and readily available everywhere.
Why is the colour even an issue?

i chose silver, delivered was yellow. but i'm glad to have it delivered after long waiting, so i won't complain about a single spool of filament 😀
