Wood Filament Settings?!
Hi all,
I am trying some prints with Hatchbox wood. So far so good. Doing the Prusa logo from the SD card is actually going ok. I do see a bit of ooze and stringing on a move. What have you guys found to be good retraction settings for wood? I know it is an open ended question but just looking for opinions. I am starting with the basic PLA settings at .2 layer.
Re: Wood Filament Settings?!
I just print at regular pla settings and sand off the strings. A little extra retraction woulf probably help.
Re: Wood Filament Settings?!
One thing to be careful of is that the wood filament is softer than regular PLA, so you should probably reduce the spring force against the extruder drive gear. Too much force can result in flattening of the filament and subsequent jams.

Re: Wood Filament Settings?!
The wood is printing ok but not great. My other printer does a great job with this filament. The main thing is stringing - it is bad. I have run the temp up and down. Adjusted retraction and speed but so far it hasn't helped. One thing left to try is the setting that turns off retraction below a certain distance but I don't think that is going to do anything.
