Have you searched at shop.prusa3d.com?

I understand that you need to chat with the Prusa Guys, and they will enable a page for Mk2 parts, which last time I saw it, had the Mk42 Hotbed, available, it was quite expensive at about £74, GBp if memory serves me well.

Thanks i'll have to get saving up ! or look for a alternative is it just steel washers embedded in it for the probe ?

Thanks Nikki

No, only circles on PCB.

No, only circles on PCB.

i assume that there are not only circles on the pcb, it's most likely that there has been some material embedded inside the heatbed which could be easily detected by the probe. probably not steel washers...

They are only circles on PCB. I am sure about it because I consulted it with PR developer recently. 😉
If you don't trust me, there is still option to cut your heatbed in half to convince yourself. 😛

However, there is still less invasive method. It is called Google. Try this: http://www.prusaprinters.org/first-printer-to-automatically-correct-geometry-in-all-axes/ and look for "MK2 print bed is augmented with nine solid copper circular points of 8 mm diameter". 😎

Re: where to get a mk42 heatbed replacement ?

so there are some kind of inlays: 9 solid copper circles  .
that's the easiest way to achieve this from the manufacturing point of view and quite a brilliant idea.

not only an on top printed circle (as one could think by your post), it's an area inside the printed circuit board where the conductive tracks for the heating go around and a solid, stand alone area of copper has been left from etching.

:geek: thanks for the hint and the link, haven't seen it before, that sheds some light on it.

to detect the solid copper circles and distinguish them from the heating tracks will be some kind of challenge.
it would be easy to detect the height (you can detect this from the tracks as well, if you don't hit the circle exactly), but to get the correct xy coordinates of the discs you need to search them thoroughly.
💡
now it makes sense that the simple z-calibration is able to detect the height at the reference points quite quickly, but the xyz calibration seems to search for ages for the little round copper areas of the pcb.

Jeff

The probe points are simply circular areas of copper tracking. That is all.
