Where is the PINDA LED and when is it on?

Hi folks,

Just embarking on my first 3D printing adventure here, so please bear with me if I have many noob questions in the coming days.

I've started of the the MK2S kit. Assembly seems to have worked (! — nothing exploded). I've downloaded and installed the latest firmware. Self-test runs fine, but XYZ calibration fails to find the first point. There are many things I'm still working through here from Guide for New User video on YouTube and the Troubleshooting VIDEO on this forum, but the one thing I can't seem to find is how to tell if the PINDA is working _at all_.

1) does self-test test the PINDA?
2) many posts on the forum seem to talk about the PINDA LED, but I can't see any such thing on my device, and can't find a photo on here. I even tried re-watching the Guide for A New User video to carefully try and spot any such LED, and am not seeing it. Can someone post a photo of the PINDA LED working, and also explain when it should be on / off? (i.e., when I power up the machine, should it immediately be on, or only after some calibration or heat up or ... something).

Thanks in advance!
Chris

It's the clear plastic part surrounding where the cable goes in on the top. It lights up a dim red and goes out when there is metal under the probe.

Thanks! Turns out mine is working fine, just the LED is _completely_ invisible from any view other than directly above. Just putting these here in case future searches need the same info.

When you look at the PINDA from the side (at least the way I built it), the LED isn't "dim"; it's invisible.

However, if you look straight down on it from above, it's completely clear (putting this up as a video, because a photograph didn't have enough contrast between the red LED and the orange of the printed parts).

Hope this helps some future nooby.

Cheers,
Chris
