Re: What is this?
Hmmm, well Josef did comment that they had been trying to develop a Prometheus like colour changer, IE multiple colours and/or materials through a single extruder/hotend so this could be a misdirection on his part... So far all the pictures he's teased show only seperate single block colour changes, not inter mixed which is worrying as I really would like to be able to print full multi-colour objects! Eg objects with colour that threads it's way through an object not just distinct layers. If it's capable of mixed colours, multiple changes, per layer then I'll be getting it, if not then I won't, sadly...
I want to be able to print things like this on my Prusa:
or this:
Re: What is this?
Yep me too. That would be awesome

You can still print the planetary gears bearing with existing "Change filament" function, but it would be laboring like hell. 😆
Re: What is this?
My guess is that he's planning to use the Prusa Super Switch to handle switching between 4 extruders for one nozzle, very similar to what Prometheus is doing. The switch is super nice because you probably don't need 4x drivers for those extruders, just one on the Rambo and then the switch handles switching (imagine that) the extruder that the driver controls (i.e the 'active' extruder).
This will probably work with existing slicers via a tool change script. So you should be able to tell the slicer that you've got 4 extruders and then add a tiny bit of code that tells the switch to do its thing upon a tool change being triggered. The switch would need to communicate with the Rambo somehow...not sure the best way, should be interesting to see what they come up with!
In any case, can't wait to buy this...whatever it is!
Re: What is this?
If this is printed in one go that would be cool. Thats a 4 colour print.

Re: What is this?

He says it's not dual extruder, so it's either a quad-extruder and he's teasing or it's a similar idea to the Prometheus!
If anyone is on Twitter, can they ask him if he can show it can print these?:

2-color standing cat

He has asked for test models after all! 😀
Re: What is this?
Have done 3Delight 😉
Re: What is this?
Cheers Ben!
Josef said that all would be revealed in a couple of weeks about a week and a bit ago so I'm wondering if this is going to be announced at one of the 'shows' he's appearing at?
28-29th September 2016 - TCT Show Birmingham
30th September 2016 - Digical Show (iMakr) London
1-2nd October 2016 - World MakerFaire New York
It's no wonder we don't see him on here so much these days, he must be permanently jet-lagged! Bear in mind that's not the whole list!
28-29th September 2016 - TCT Show Birmingham (GB)
30th September 2016 - Digical Show (iMakr) London (GB)
1-2nd October 2016 - World MakerFaire New York (USA)
4th October 2016 - 3D Print Conference MSV Brno (CZ)
7th October 2016 - Open Hardware Summit Portland (USA)
6-9th October 2016 - Print in 3D Prague (CZ)
14-16th October 2016 - MakerFaire Rome (IT)
5-7th January 2017 - CES
I'm exhausted just reading the list!!

Almost certainly it will be revealed at a show. He is really quite good at marketing! He's let out little bits of information, and now he has all of us, plus some of the popular 3D Printer reviewers talking about it. 🙂

Re: What is this?
I wish they would build an NEC down south. I miss soo much because its soo far away 😥
Re: What is this?
I have visited the Birmingham TCT show in the last two years. I will be attending again this September, to represent all of us with depression and the so called deluded. And those that pretend to be, ie not a genuine looney like me. At for the first time, a Genuine Prusa I3 stand. The first year independant developers and start ups a plenty. A lot less last year. I will be visiting the Genuine Prusa I3 stand. As regards the comment Prusa Research being absent from home, that is sales above support, always. Sell sell sell. 🙂 That is business.

Re: What is this?
He mentioned in his Twitter feed, I believe, that it would be revealed at the TCT show.
Re: What is this?
Thanks Merv. Keep us updated 😉
Re: What is this?
Hrmm... i was just about to pluck down some more cash to upgrade my last two Mk1's to Mk2's , Wonder if i should wait a bit to see what we have in store 😀
Re: What is this?
I am hoping it is a filament switcher. Automatic load and unload filament into a single extruder kind of like the Pallet but without the need to fuse the filaments.
Re: What is this?
Luc,
This seems to be the most logical expectation based on the control board picture that was posted. Josef has also posted at hinting no ooze shield would be required and with the pictures he has posted I'm wondering what kind of voodoo magic he has concocted to make this work.
Re: What is this?
@Luc A filament switcher would be great 🙂 I hope it happens.

Re: What is this?
Ok so he has now released what it will be. A simple software update 😮 😥
Re: What is this?
Only joking. I cannot wait.
This is what I am looking forward to doing.
Re: What is this?
I'm really hoping to print Christmas ornaments and gifts using this new tech.
