What is the exact length of the x-axis smooth rods

Hi everyone,

Another question regarding the specifications.

How long are the "longest" smooth rods used at the x-axis?
I don't want to disassemble my MK2 right now to find out that number! 😉

Bye,
Martin

Neither do I 🙂 , but you can measure visible part and add depth of holes in X end printed parts which you can get from their STL files.

They should provide that number inside the docs at the given step, instead of just saying "the longest". 😀

Hope someone from Prusa Research can me give that number, because I am not in close proximity to my printer right now.

Bye,
Martin

Okay, so Michele from the chat support gave me a hint, where I can find the answer: At the packaging in which the rods where shipped.

So:

Smallest smooth rod: 8mm x 320mm
Middle smooth rod: 8mm x 330mm
Longest smooth rod: 8mm x 370mm

Bye,
Martin

Anyone have a good source for these rods? Preferably in the US.

Misumi has decent rods and Misumi US actually want to sell stuff (unlike Misumi Europe which can be a pain the lower back to order from). As an added bonus you could order some of their excellent LMU8 bearings as well.

yeah, great bearings, awful ability to sell to people in Europe. Once I got through the red tape they arrived in two days, so really good once you get your order placed.

I think i am going to need to call them to get the bearings and rods matched correctly and see what options there are or what would work the best.

Which rod for which part? I'm guessing but confirmation would be peachy.

Re: What is the exact length of the x-axis smooth rods

Am I correct that there are two identical rods for each axis? That is, two 330 mm rods for Y, two 370 mm rods for X, and two 320 mm rods for Z? For example, the photo in the online assembly manual for the X axis makes it seem like the two X rods have different lengths. I think it must be the perspective from which the photo was taken. Thank you.
