Vertical lines

Hi all
I've had my MK2 kit for about a month now have been printing quite happily.
However on my prints I have getting some vertical lines on the edges

Here I am printing the y motor mount.

And another example

I am using the Prusa PLA
Heat end temp 200C
Heatbed 55C

Sliced using Simplify3d using the Prusa setting.
Anyone know what is causing the vertical lines and if I can do anything about it?

Re: Vertical lines

might be related to the infill overlap.
but it's hard to say. did you try another slicer ?

are there any vertical lines when you print the prusa whistle gcode, that came with the printer/kit ?

Re: Vertical lines

just printed the whistle and I don't get the vertical lines.
I've sliced and model in simplify3d now and currently printing it, I've reduced the infill, I think I had it at 25% for another model, set it now to 20% and it seems to have cured the problem. Good to know it is a slicer issue rather than a hardware issue.
Thanks.

Re: Vertical lines

my advice would have been to reduce the infills overlap, that's the amount the infill will overlap the outer line perimeter(s).
in slic3r you should find this setting at "print settings" -> "advanced" -> under "Overlap".

Re: Vertical lines

These lines are called "seams". They are created where a print head starts and finishes a closed perimeter. There is not really a way to get rid of them completely, but a properly set slicing software will minimize them. Also Slic3r and kisslicer will hide the seams into corners if possible. If there is a concave corner, you will have a hard time to identify the seam there. On the contrary, the expensive Simplify3D does not hide the seams into corners. What a pity.
