USB extension cable

Hello Everyone, I need to extend my USB cable by just 1 metre and have tried two extension cables that I have but I cannot connect when using either - am I missing something simple here?
Appreciate the help...
Cheers, Rob

Re: USB extension cable

Hello Robert!

I am too using an extension usb cable that is 5 metres long and have no issues. Total length is 5m + the original cable length. So I don't think it could be voltage drop in your case.

Could it be two bad cables in your case - or one bad original cable?

Re: USB extension cable

USB cables can be finicky. Another printer I had, would only work with 1 out of 5 (normal length) cables. Those cables worked fine with other devices. Why? I have no idea. Do yourself a favor: get a raspberry Pi with wifi, install octopi, and put your printer anywhere you want.

I found yet another USB extension in a drawer, just 50cm, but it worked and is just long enough...Like you say luck of the draw(er) 🙂
However, I do like your idea about the Raspberry Pi, to get info over by wifi and, after checking YouTube, I think a camera too for time lapse. So, thanks for your reply.
