Unload filament - Issue

Hello

It is already 3rd time, just wonder why it happens!

How it happens

1. Preheat PLA or already preheated
2. Unload filament
3. when extruder stops i pulled up filament and some part of filament (in shape of drop) stays in teflon tube
4. If i load new filament it goes inside and push that "drop" trough tube to hotted and then stuck in the end of tube ( why in the end - i have found it when disassemble extruder)
5. It is very annoying disassembling extruder every time changing filament 😳

Just wonder why, and what i do wrong while unloading filament.

Thank you!

Re: Unload filament - Issue

I unload filament at 170°C and only then (before loading new filament) preheat to filament target temperature. I did that countless times on MK2 and never got anything stuck in extruder.

Re: Unload filament - Issue

There are occasions I use "Cleaning" filament to push through bad filament left behind when I unload filament and for when I want to change to a different filament. I've had no real problems with having to break open my hotend to clear a clog because of this. I did get a clog last night, but my cleaning filament was able to fix it.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

I've been using your method lately and works like a charm. Much cleaner unloads.

Thanks!

Re: Unload filament - Issue

The only problem of this method is you can't use it during printing. You can evade that by playing with temperature around M600 gcode command - bring it down a bit before M600 and bring it back after finished M600.
