Troubleshooting layer separation

I'm really not sure exactly what's going on here, but my prints haven't been coming out right. I've tried recalibrating a few times, and all the self checks come out OK on the printer. I'm not sure if its an extruder problem or a hotend problem or what. I thought at first it might be my slicer settings but then I printed one of the gcode files that came on the sd card (the treefrog) and it still comes out funky (I even used the PLA plastic that came with the printer).

Any help would be appreciated, here are some pics!

Re: Troubleshooting layer separation

Oh yeah, and it was working fine until recently, this is not my first setup with this printer. I have done lots of great prints, just trying to get back to that point!

Re: Troubleshooting layer separation

You have a problem with the filament/feed path.

Old filament
Badly would filament
Spool not running freely
Filament drive gear dirty
Incorrect filament drive tension
Damaged PTFE
Partially blocked nozzle

You will find all the above (and maybe some more) using the search facility.
