Hello all,

Was printing well with both PLA and ABS no real issues besides the ABS wanting to stick which I had used blue tape and worked well. So anyway i had just been searching for parts and things and saw the above link so gave it a try. So now I have been having issues with first layer adhesion both PLA and ABS every since. My gut tells me it was the oil lubricant that did this. I've done some cleaning of nozzle but still cant get first layer to stick to bed. Can someone tell me if indeed have messed this up? I am thinking maybe replace the PTFE tube? (Still new to this so don't be to harsh please, just looking for help)

Yeah, I would imagine that oil from that kind of filter could be a problem, depending on how much oil and what kind of filament. 🙄 I think I read about someone else with a similar problem somewhere on some forum. Dusty filament does sound bad, but clean dry filament sounds best.

Have you done cold pulls? Of the things I've seen recommended, a series of cold pulls (AKA "atomic method") sound like the thing most likely to help, short of disassembling your extruder and cleaning any part that's oily.

I only used one drop and I have ran a lot of filament through since testing. Only place I can think oil could be still would be in PTFE tube still, although I haven't found any real instructions for this yet. I will check into the cold pulls.

Are you sure it is the extruder that needs cleaned, and not the bed?
Try cleaning the bed first with windex, then acetone, then IPA. These three get most any issues cleaned. Windex is good with oils, acetone is good with certain chemicals, and IPA with others. This should restore the bed to clean. It might not be the nozzle any more.
Also, cleaning filament might help if the issue really is in the nozzle.

Ended up being probe issue again. Keeps moving on me find myself having to tighten during prints

If you have not printed and replaced the MK2 body with the MK2S body, I highly recommend it. Much better mounting of the probe.

aaron.s5 is right. The new MK2S Upgraded Pinda holder is better. Shame I cannot print it with supplied ABS filament from Prusa.
