Stuck during calibration after rebuild

After replacing my hotend and having the z carriage apart everything is back together and a selftest completes. When I try to do a calibration it sits at "waiting on nozzle and bed cooling" i let it sit for 8h with no change. Any thoughts are appreciated.

What are the temperature readings while waiting for it to cool down (which it obviously does not)?

73/0° and 20/0°

Re: Stuck during calibration after rebuild

So it seems one of both temp sensors is misreading and the board always "thinking" the temperature is too high.
Check on which of those it is and than check the wiring of it. (be sure you did not mix up the connectors!)
It is well known that those cables could get weak with the time (the only downside of this printer if there is any)
which leads to failures or misreadings which I had to experience myself eventually.
Wiggle those cables back and forth and check on the display for sudden temp changes.
The damage most probably will be somewhere where the cables are bent the most while the bed or extruder are moving.
Repairing with solder and heat-shrink tube is no big deal at all.

If there is no mechanical reason to be found....
Although there is no obvious reason for, sometimes reflashing firmeware works wonders....

Ok, I'll try that tonight, I reflashed the firmware already. I'm gonna guess it's the nozzle temp sensor I have had those wires apart and moved all over the place.

Both sensors are responding properly [used a heat gun to test and wiggled all the wires] are there standard resistance readings for the thermister and for the heater so I can check that?

Also new issue a blade came off the extruder cooler fan so I replaced it with another 30mm but now the self test fails the fan is good is there something special about the original fan?

Sorry for all the questions this thing is kicking my ass.

So, what are your temperature readings when powering up the printer?
Should be room-temperature for both!
As for the hot-end-fan, I take it the self test is asking whether the fan is running or not which you have to answere with "yes" or "no".
I didn´t know the self test is checking on the fan running itself whithout your prompt.
Maybe the board checks on whether there is any connected at all and reads your subsitute at not existing for different resistance.
But that is just guessing....

Re: Stuck during calibration after rebuild

the original 30mm fan is one of the higher flow models with a plain bearing.
I replaced mine with a ball bearing version off ebay, no issues...

during self test, on the mk2 the firmware asks you to confirm that the fan is running... or it stalls waiting for your input!

on the mk3 there is a speed sensor that checks fan performance for you!

Re: Stuck during calibration after rebuild

Things seem to be working now! Yay! thanks for all the help.
replacement fan was apparently defective would run for a min or so when 1st connected then fail swapped it out again.
Also I was being impatient and thought i was to click the selector button to start the self test which I think signaled the system that I was saying that the fan was not spinning. I found that solution on the forums here.
I pulled the harness apart again and went through all the wires finally found a bit of damage to the nozzle temp sensor right inside the head itself just like alexander.s27 suggested (thanks again) it was to close to the sensor tip so i swapped in a cartridge style unit from another e3d hotend. I jury rigged wiring it up for a test run and everything worked and a cal. completed do you guys think i should clip the connector off the cartridge temp sensor and solder it in or should i look to find a connector and make the system easier to part out? I lean to connectors but then I have to find the proper mate to what I have.
