ive got the same issue!!! my MK1 never had any issues like this. i really just want a working printer again!!

Hi

There are a few possible causes of this:

1. Ensure the belt is tight
2. Ensure the grub screws on the belt pulley are tight and that one of the screws is tightened on the flat of the motor spindle
3. Upgrade the printer firmware
4. Try the print in "High Power" mode

Eknath - ensure that the X belt is tight enough to "ping". Peter (PJR) had an awesome tip for how to do this - it is posted on the thread "Coordinates of calibration circles".

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your suggestions, the first thing I had tried after seeing this happening was to tighten X belts as i doubted it might be missing steps.
So the belt is well tightened, given that the offset is happening at every layer its not the belt issue for sure.

The firmware is up to date as I received the machine just a week ago. I will try high power mode but doesn't it come with high power mode enabled by default?

Still worth checking; new firmware is being released quite regularly...

And no, default is quiet mode.

Did you check the pulley screws?

Yup, the Pully screw was the culprit, fixing it worked like a charm. Many thanks for your help!!!

Can someone explain exactly what you mean by pulley screws? I tried to tighten the screws that holds the pulley which holds the belt for both the X axis and Y axis. The directions say not to overtighten.

I tightened the belts by unscrewing the motors and then readjusting the belt. Could this be happening because the belt is TOO tight?
Any other ideas why the layers are shifting? I already tightened the screws for the piece that keeps the belt on the motors.

I'm able to successfully print whistles, but nothing bigger. I have like a dozen whistles!!!

pulley screws for me to. Im referring to the two screws that hold the pulley to the x-axis drive motor. mine were loose for some damn reason. printing good thus far.

This problem caused the few first layers to be offset on my printer, like shown below.

I realized I assembled the printer but forgot to tighten properly the pulley as mentionned in the assembly guide http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/3.+X-axis+assembly/105 step 13. Thanks for providing the troubleshooting here.

If you are talking about the two endbolts on the X axis. They must be tighened or there will be play along the X axis. These screws/bolts were added I guess to enable tightening of the Xaxis belt over time and allow for stretch. At least they should touch the Xaxis rods.
