Strange Occurence
Hi,
I've just had a strange thing happen on my MK 2.
Halfway through a 2 hour print, the printer just started randomly printing into mid air. It looks like the Z-Axis moved up.
Also after stopping the print, the part fan was running permanently and the 'Calibration' menu had no menu options in it. Just the option to return to the main screen.
Could this have been a firmware bug?
The menu options are back after after a power cycle.
Thanks,

Hi Adrian,
thaat looks strange indeed, you are the first to report something like that.
Could you please post the gcode file ? Maybe there's an issue within it ?
I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.

Important information - from SD card or via USB port?
Re: Strange Occurence
Hi,
This was from an SD Card.
The GCode must be ok. I literally power cycled the printer and everything printed OK from the same SD Card and GCode file.
Just thought it strange that the 'Calibration' menu items had all dissapeared.
Cheers,

One more thing,
I was running in quiet mode and when things went awry, the motor seemed to make an odd noise.
I changed to power mode and it seems to be OK up to now.
Very strange.
Re: Strange Occurence
Some pictures of printer with failed print would be helpful. Maybe next time?
Re: Strange Occurence
Do you print with 'z hop' enabled? If so, then perhaps it was in the middle of a retract and hop move when the z-axis had a stall for some reason. I've had it with the X and Y axis when trying too high a speed while on low power (silent) mode.
Re: Strange Occurence
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
No, ZHop is not enabled.
I'm beginning to think that it may be down to low power mode. It did sound like a motor stalled or somehting similar.
I'm printing in high power mode now as noise limiting is not an issue for me.
It may be just me but the prints seem very slightly better quality in high power mode. 😉
