Slic3r Settings for MK2

Is there a source where I can find how to set up Slic3r with the mk2 properly? The demo's that came on the SD card seem to print great, but when I try my own model it's a mess. I'd like to copy the from demo settings for example, how do I go about this?

Also, I'm confused on how the printer settings affect slic3r settings. If my z height has been adjusted to 0.9 on the printer, does slicer also use that setting or it's own?

One last thing, is this the current Start and End G-code for the mk2?

M104 S[first_layer_temperature]
M140 S[first_layer_bed_temperature]
G28
G80
G92 E0.0
G1 X60.0 E9.0 F1000.0
G1 X100.0 E12.5 F1000.0
G92 E0.0

and

M104 S0 ; turn off temperature
M140 S0 ; turn off heatbed
G28 X0 ; home X axis
M84 ; disable motors

Thanks.

Re: Slic3r Settings for MK2

Hi Damian,

welcome to the forums!

If you install the driver package, you will get preconfigured Slic3r in your start menu and on your desktop. If you need just settings, it's the easiest to download Mac version of drivers, where you have the config bundle for MK2, which you can import into your Slic3r installation.

The preconfigured Slic3r from our driver package won't affect your settings for regular Slic3r instalation. They are separated.

Re: Slic3r Settings for MK2

Ok, so let's say I have the demo's printing well and want to try printing something like 3DBenchy. I download the STL file, and install the prusa3d drivers. On my desktop I now have a shortcut to "Prusa3D Slic3r MK2", which I click and Slic3r opens. I import the 3DBenchy STL into it, and are all the settings already properly configured for the MK2? If not, what do I have to change to get the model printing on the same level of quality as say the frog demo?

A tutorial like this specific to the MK2 would be a great starting point for new users like myself. Is there a step by step guide like this anywhere?

Handbook and section 8.3 has Slic3r in it.

You then just select the print settings you want, frog is 0.05 DETAIL, material and export the g-code.

Re: Slic3r Settings for MK2

Ok, I'm currently printing 3Dbenchy and it seems to be working with all the default settings from the "Prusa3d Slic3r MK2" shortcut. I guess my other model is having some issues which I'll have to look into.

Just one more quick question, in Slic3r, which print setting should I use between, "0.05mm DETAIL" or "0.05mm DETAIL 0.25 nozzle"? The MK2 has a 0.4mm nozzle so I'm guessing the first option?

Thanks

Yup, it's the first (standard) option; anything other than standard will be labelled as such.
