Sensor hitting print.

So recently when it's come to printing I've run into an issue where while the printer begins printing the supports for my print, there as bits of the filament sticking up, so when the sensor comes along it ends up hitting those pieces of filament, and causing the rest of it to come detached from the bed, I can't really raise the sensor, because then it wouldn't detect the distance from the bed correctly. Anyone got any tips on how I can stop that? Thanks.

Well, if you really cant raise the PINDA probe any further, we need to see if we can't eliminate whatever is causing the print to curl upwards / warp.

What type of filament are you printing with?

Does this happen fairly early on during the print, first layer or later after 25+ Layers or so? Is the first layer detaching and then the probe hits the print or does the first layer stay attached and its the last few lines thats curling upwards?

Edit: sounds like first layer..

Ok,suggestions for first layer

- thoroughly clean your bed with nothing but IPA and perhaps a paper towel.
- print the first layer slower
- adjust Z-axis offset using live Z- adjust. It could be to far away (doesn't stick) or too close (excess plastic creates a seam)

@stephan.k

Yes it is pretty much the first layer, while it is not the actual print itself that is curling up warping it was the grids supports I was printing and it was basically on the first layer, I'm wondering if it just had something to do with the way I was trying to do a print, because I finally got one to print with an item that was laying completely flat on the bed. In terms of what plastic I'm using, I'm still on the PLA roll that was shipping with the printer when I bought it. I did try some other pla but that also had the problem. On the print I got to work I had blue painters tape instead of just using the bed so maybe that was the fix? But I'll give what you said a try, Thanks!

@david.t2

I'll give it a search, thanks!
