Retraction/Unretraction squeak?
I'm currently printing a long (30 hour) print, with lots of short infills. After about the 3-4th infill on each layer, it starts squeaking. I'll do some tests after this print is done, to see if I can figure out what's squeaking. But I was curious if anyone had any ideas.
I'm fairly sure the squeak is from the extruder assembly, because the sound is the same regardless of the angle of the infill. The infill is done using the octogram spiral setting in Slic3r).
Here's a video with sound demonstrating the problem: https://goo.gl/photos/n9oqXYSmns1tSyyFA
As you can see, it doesn't squeak on the first couple of retractions once it starts the infill, but then it consistently squeaks like that until it finishes the infill for that layer and starts on the perimeters of the next layer.
Re: Retraction/Unretraction squeak?
Although, now that I think about it, I guess it could be the z axis, when it does the z lift on each retraction. But putting my ear up to the extruder vs. each of the z-axis slides, I'm pretty sure it's the extruder.
Re: Retraction/Unretraction squeak?
I have the same issue.
I think that the is a little misaligned and the Filament (PLA) rubs on the PTFE tube or some other part. I still have to check the alignment but the printer is quite busy and i have some Prints to be finished on time, so i didn't check.
Re: Retraction/Unretraction squeak?
Just to loop back on this, I believe the problem was in some part of the roller that presses the filament against the hobbed gear. The squeaking stopped after I applied some bearing oil on/around the bearing. Although I was taking the whole extruder assembly apart at the time, so I can't conclusively say that's what fixed it. e.g. maybe I fixed some misalignment when I put it all back together.
RE: Retraction/Unretraction squeak?
I know I'm late to the game but just got mine and it started doing the same thing was wondering if anybody came to a conclusion so I coan pinpoint it thanks
