Recommended print speeds

I used to have a MK1. I setup my cura profiles for ABS, PLA and Ninjaflex at various layer thicknesses.

I have just upgraded to MK2.

The sales page for the MK2, says "Up to 40% faster printing thanks to the geniune E3D V6 Full hotend".

Can I therefore safely increase the print speeds in all my profiles by 40%?

Not quite that simple...

Yes the V6 will melt more material than the Lite6, but only given the right conditions.

I have managed to print PLA at 180mm/s with a 0.2mm layer height, but to achieve those speeds, you do have to mess with other settings (acceleration in particular) and you have to accept a lower print quality.

It is all about trying things; get the right model (something square and simple) and push the speeds; maybe up the temp if necessary.

I can hardly imagine how ridiculous the printer must look when zooming around at such a crazy speed. Nice. 🙂
