Prusa Filament

Good morning!

So, I have about 2 and a half weeks left before I hopefully get confirmation that my prusa kit is being shipped! its been a long wait already... i so cant wait!.

I was actually going to buy a different printer to start with (this is my first), something like the Ultimaker, but with the positive things i was reading about the Prusa, i thought well, i don't have a printer now, 7+ weeks should be ok to wait for this great printer, also the difference between the 2 printers in price, could go towards a nice amount of filament.

Question i have is, is the Prusa filament good? because i was just thinking of adding some to my order, or should i look at other filament's ?

Cheers
Will

Re: Prusa Filament

Hi WIll,

I just received my MK2S last friday with some of prusa's filament (that I ordered extra).
For me this is my second printer, as I have been using a K8200 for the last 2,5 years.
I ordered some PLA, PETG and easy ABS with my printer, to test it (do not expect prusa to sell rubish in their webshop).
Did a couple of test prints with the silver PLA that you get for free with the printer and the prints look stunning (so estimate the same results for the other PLA spools). Can not judge the other materials as I did not test them yet.
For my other printer I tested some other brands and have had very good experiences with Colorfabb PLA/PHA and Colorfabb XT.
But Colorfabb is expensive. Also used REAL (reprapworld.com) PLA and PETG filament, which prints very nice, is much cheaper but has some thickness inconsistencies between spools (so you need to measure each spool, and adjust settings) .
Also heared from colleagues that filamentum is a good brand.
FYI:
Prusa did a very through job on their supplied slic3r profiles, which contain settings for Prusa, Colorfabb, Filamentum filaments (multiple types) and one or two special filament brands
Choosing one of these will save you a lot of time tweaking settings, especially important if you are new to 3D printing.

Hope your printer will arrive soon.. And happy printing.

Best Regards,

Robin
