Possible Z-Axis motor failure - Help!
I walked in at the end of a sub one hour print to an awful smell and a smashed, nearly complete, print. The extruder was pushed down to the bed through the print. When I attempted to move the Z-axis using the control panel settings the printer made a loud shuddering noise with lots of vibration and would not move up. After manually adjusting the Z-axis and forcefully removing the destroyed print I ran a test, see link below for the video. If I grab either threaded rod while it is running it offers no resistance and stops attempting to spin. Any vertical movement of the attached X-axis assembly is always down and is caused only by the severe vibrations of the running motors. Both Z-axis motors seem to have a problem.
Any thoughts? Before this incident, I have had no problems with the Z-Axis.
How long is the MK2 warranty good for? I received the printer last August under my son's account ([email protected]). He gave up on it early on so I have claimed squatters rights to it. 😉
If the warranty has expired, what is the cost of replacing the Z-axis motors?

Mini-Rambo short lead to z-axis problem
I think I found the root of the problem and it has nothing to do with the Z-axis. The heated bed connector on the mini-Rambo had a meltdown shorting out the Mini-Rambo. I am not sure what to do next.

I decided to contact UltiMachine, the maker of the miniRambo board to find out what I could do about the damaged board. They are having me send it to them for repair or replacement under warranty. FYI: The minRambo boards carry a 1-year warranty. Hopefully, it will be returned by the time my Multimaterial upgrade arrives.
