PINDA threads locked

Hello All;

I have had a look at the posts and I have not seen this small issue posted. During the last set of adjustments I used some of the Super Glue (CA) to lock the top nut in place. Prints were great and the probe stayed put.

Now I have had a thermistor fail and I was changing the whole hot end with a new spare and replacing the nozzle with a hardened steel one. The hot end is not exactly the same as the previous so I was expecting to do a full calibration and set the new one up. Still the same make and model but slightly different.

Remember the super glue? 😯 Now the nut will not release from the threads. Over the last two days I have been dripping a few drops of acetone on the threads but no luck dislodging the nut. Acetone is one of the recommended ways of removing super glue.

First I removed the PINDA probe from the housing and gained full access to it. The nut was not moving in my vice like fingers! 😎

I have place some cardboard in the jaws of my pliers so as not to damage the threads when gripping the lower portion to try to rotate the nut with a 12 mm wrench. Still no movement and I fear if I clamp too hard I will damage the PINDA probe.

Next I opened the mounts up and removed the hot end. I adjusted the heat sink threads to allow the nozzle to seat further into the block. This was not enough to get the needed close off set with the PROBE. All I really need to do is lower the PINDA probe!

Help!

All I can think to do now is to strip it all back and place the new Hot End's thermistor into the previos hot end and start over...

all thoughts, Ideas and suggestions welcome. ❗

Re: PINDA threads locked

😆 IDK...maybe you can cut the nut off? ...maybe use a Swiss file and split it?

Re: PINDA threads locked

I have had the same issue.

Solution for me: mount 2 nuts on the pinda and secure them together by turning them towards each other. Then you can have a firm grip on the pinda and can release the glued nut. Before that I toke as much of the glue of the thread.
