Pinda probe with thermistor

Is the new PINDA probe compatible with the Mk2 on it's own?

I was looking at the upgrade kit from Mk2 to 2.5 and all I want to do is install the new PINDA probe as I have lots of issues going from ABS to PLA and the Z height is always different depending on the temperature of the probe or the bed. There is nothing else in the upgrade kit that really excites me as otherwise I am having a good time printing with my Mk2.

So is just the probe itself available for retrofit to a Mk2 and would it work with just a firmware update? Or do you need every mk2.5 sensor installed for the printer to work.

I was told by the Prusa on-line chat that the mk2 controller would not support this. But how can this be if the mk2.5 upgrade provides the new pinda probe but uses the existing Rambo board?

I want to do the same thing that you want to do. I hope it is possible.

Well I did some research and for me to buy a PINDA probe on it's own. Postage is $70.

Since the Mk2.5 upgrade kit is currently $50 off, I ordered one of them.

I think PRUSA are doing themselves a disservice by sending things by super express which while an extremely reliable service and very quick, you certainly pay for it and for home tinkerers like us, who cares if a box with a $10 probe in it takes three weeks to get here but only costs $10 to send via post.

I am sure people running a business using PRUSA printers want the very fast service, but home users it is not important.
