nozzel full of plastic

Hello,
It is very strage but I left my printer working at night and at morning I found the situation in the photo. I don't know what happen, it is just the filament glued over the nozzel, I have my Prusa since last year working very well until now.
Someone has had this kind of trouble?, What could have happened?
Is there a way to unstick the plastica?
Thank you.

I think it's fair to say your print failed... 🙂

I had a similar failure. the print started ok, so I let it get on whilst I did something else, but the print detatched from the build plate and started sliding around under the extruder, whilst the extruder continued pumping plastic into the sliding part, this caused the plastic to well up the sides of the extruder.

be careful,

it can be really difficult to remove the build up, without breaking something..

i heated the extruder and tried to ease the blob off the extruder, but it pulled one of the thermister wires loose.

is it PLA?
if so, a heat gun to the outside of the blob whilst heating the extruder, may aid removal!

if it's ABS, you may damage the extruder shroud

if it is ABS, you may consider trying to dissolve with acetone... but it will take ages...

Good luck

Yes, this happens. Poor adhesion, and unattended printing. Yours came out pretty. Modern art?

Heat the extruded to the temp you were printing at, plus 5-10degs. Let is heat for a while than carefully grab with pliers and pull.

I too broke the wires for the thermocouple on a mess like this. Be more careful than I was.

The advices of a heat gun from the outside is a good one.

Good luck.

Yep it happens to all of us. Just reheat your nozzle and peel the excess plastic off, with a probe of some sort. I use a small wire based toothbrush, one end pushes the plastic off, the other I use to wire brush and clean the nozzle from debris. Whilst nozzle is hot.

Thank you all of you.
Unfortunately it is very difficult to take the plastic off 😳 Here the story: I coudn't to heat the nozzle because the cable was broken I suppose the plastic burned out the nozzle cable anyway I disassembled the extruder and tryied to take off the plastic carefuly but It was a nightmare. I used all to try it but can see the final result on the photo.
I will buy the damage pieces and build again.

Re: nozzel full of plastic

Sorry to hear that.

I also could not heat the honed since it had no termalcouple.

I used a small butain tortch (the type for cooking creame brulet) to heat the metal parts and got the plastic off. Then only had to replace the thermal couple.

Is this PLA or PETG or ABS?

Good luck.
