Nothing works anymore

Suddenly no motor is working anymore.

The selftest states error with x-endstop, but it doesn't even move, so of course it doesn't find endstop.

Turning it off and on, disconnecting from electricity for a minute. Reset. Settings move any axis: no motor makes a move. No filament can be loaded or unloaded. Printer does make a reset and freezes if settings / move axis / move extruder. There can not be disconnected any cable for all 4 motors I think... The only thing which works is moving around in the menu.

What we have directly done before: changing the filament.

Any hints?

Perhaps we should play in the new firmware?

Yours, Michael and Susann

Re: Nothing works anymore

I just checked the two fuses (5/15): both are looking good and my continuity tester says there is no problem.

Re: Nothing works anymore

In that case, it's probably the remaining 5 Amp fuse (there are 2 of them; one is for the motors, the other for the electronics and heater plus 1 15Amp for the bed).

Re: Nothing works anymore

If it is the fuse, then all electric installation should be checked for possible short circuit. Fuses usually don't burn out without reason.

David

A stalled motor or two could cause a fuse to blow. Problem is Michael has implied that the printer was working previously; these things can happen.

You were right. There was a second 5A-fuse and it was damaged...

Thank you. I will buy new ones.

Do this fuses have a special name or special parameters except the 5A?

They are spade fuses, as used in cars. You should be able to get them from your local motor factors or even garage.

Peter

And as David mentioned, you need to check over your electronic connectors just in case. You should get a few spare fuses, then you won't need them...

Yeah, I know, and it is pretty like you said.
But I would check motor cables anyway. Better than finding another fuse. 😉
