Mk 2 turns off

Managed to assemble my second Mk 2 today but when I try to turn it on or start printing it turns off right before x-axis starts moving or around that time (no specific point when it happens). Any idea what's wrong?

What do you mean by "turns off"? What does it look like? And how do you retry?

Did you check the plugs are properly secured ?

In addition, maybe you have a fuse burned now ?

Re: Mk 2 turns off

id say power issue rather then component issue. Check all power cables are connected fully including the mains cable to the psu. Could be a vibration knocking it out.

Update. Checked the fuses, they're allright and the PSU led actually works but I hooked up another PSU just in case and still no reaction so... PSU and fuses are not the problem. Any other ideas?

Re: Mk 2 turns off

First thing to do now is double check that everything is connected correctly to the RAMBo mini board, both in terms of the right thing plugged into the right socket but also the right way round. Then check over all the components on the RAMBo mini for signs of anything charred, burnt or melted. This includes the actual connectors themselves. Any chance you can take some pictures of the RAMBo mini and post them so we can look it over for any signs of problems?

Re: Mk 2 turns off

It has been know for users to plug the power leads into the heater outlets and heater leads into the power outlets.

That would be potentially one cause of this problem.

Also as previously suggested recheck all other cable connectors. If all else fails, remove all connectors except for power and LCD ribbons. Turn on and see if the LCD is working. Then remove power and re-insert cables one at a time, powering on and testing each time.

Peter

EDIT: re-reading your initial post, it may be that you have the X stepper motor cables trapped somewhere; they may be damaged and causing a short/overload.

Re: Mk 2 turns off

One thing that I will mention that may or may not apply to your case:

When I received my printer, the Power Supply came switched to 220 instead of 110. I'm in the USA, so I had to switch this to 110.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Okay, so I unplugged everything and after checking every cable it turns out printer doesn't start when PINDA probe is plugged in. What can I do about that?

Contact support via "Live Chat" on shop pages and give them a link to this thread.

Re: Mk 2 turns off

Hi Marcin

Apologies, can you please clarify your comment? Are you saying that you haven't had any response from PR following an initial "Live Chat" session, or are you saying that you have been chatting with support and that you don't yet have a solution?

And the term "sick"... Modern meaning (ie great/exceptional) or ancient meaning (ie very poor)?

Thanks

Peter

You know what I mean :P. They told me today to plug it into another printer. Funny it took almost 5 days to come up with that idea :P.

Re: Mk 2 turns off

You know what I mean

If I did, I wouldn't have asked. And currently, I still don't.

So you have been asked to plug the probe into a different printer? And that was the only communication you have had?

If that is the case, then that's no good and the apparent lack of support and your problem needs to be escalated.

Re: Mk 2 turns off

Hi Marvin,

did you use the chat or the mail support ? I presume if you had to wait for 5 days it was mail? Honnestly, better use the support as it's more interactive and let you explain better the situation.

Testing the probe on another printer may sound a good idea for a support staff member, but is probably not applicable in your situation, just telling them that you do not have another printer to test it directly on the chat should go directly to others steps, if mail intercation is so laggy it will take ages !

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.
