Mintemp Error at a bad time
I'm getting ready to print off some important prints for clients and received a mintemp error. I checked the wires and connections and they look fine. Before this happened I was doing a 36h print and had a power outage on my city block (I don't know if that could have had any effect on it or not). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Re: Mintemp Error at a bad time
I believe Mintemp is normally a Hot end error message,
is the display showing something like 11centigrade?
could mean that the extruder thermistor is open circuit.

If you have an in-line connector on the thermistor cable just behind the extruder, check that is connected. Also check the thermistor connection on hte RAMBo.

Hi Peter,
I checked the connections and they're connected properly. Do you have any recommendations on what I should do or try next?
Thanks,

Re: Mintemp Error at a bad time
Low temp = open circuit or wire broken or connection wrong.
Make sure the thermistor is connected to the correct pins on the RAMBo.
Check the resistance of the thermistor with a DMM; start at the plug which attaches to the RAMBo and then the connector near the extruder and then the thermistor itself.
Should be 200KOhms @ 25 degrees C, more at lower temps, less at higher.

Re: Mintemp Error at a bad time
Hi Peter,
Thanks so much, I'll triple check everything and the resistance of the thermistor.
On a side note/question, If I the thermistor is broken would I be able to just take the MK I extruder/thermistor and use it with the MK II firmware? I don't see any reason it wouldn't work I just wanted to double check just in case.
Thanks,
Nathan

It is the same thermistor type, but will only fit the Mk2 if you have an early Mk2. Later Mk2's come with an updated heater block with an encapsulated thermistor.
Both thermistors are available from E3D. if you decide to buy elsewhere make sure that you get exactly the same type.

EDIT: apologies, made a mistake earlier. The thermistor should measure 100KOhms @ 25 degrees C (not 200KOhms).

Re: Mintemp Error at a bad time
Hi Guys, sorry for jumping in in this thread.
I also have a mintemp error after assembling my kit.
room temp is about 20 degrees, HB temp is displayed correct, but HE temp is measured about 11 degrees.
so if i kickstart it with a hairdryer, blowing on thr HE a bit, it reaches higher temp, an after reset i can start prints,
which works fine.
i doublechecked cabling, all seems good.
what else can i do? few answers above there is stated, the themistor can be checked. am i right, that i connect a dmm to the both
thermistor ends in the connector? and it should measure about 100k at about 25 degrees?
thanks in advance!
EDIT: i have the thermistor model which is not a cartridge.
