Micro Swiss Plated
First off, hello everyone, I orderd an assembled Prusa i3 MK2 last week and I'm just waiting patiently for it to arrive in February (hopefully sooner 😀 ). I would like to run some exotic filaments and I have had good luck with the Micro-Swiss plated nozzles in the past; I've tried hardened steel nozzles but these don't work very well for me (or haven't in the past). In any case my question is that Micro-Swiss is reccomending this nozzle for the Mk2:

I noticed it has a cone shape to it; where the nozzle on the printer, as it comes, has the flat style nozzle (for lack of a better description). Wondering if anyone has used a nozzle like this on their Mk2 and if there was any issues/differences with it?

I use a .3mm Micro Swiss plated nozzle and it works great. They are a bit longer though.

I believe that user richard.l has been using a Micro Swiss nozzle for some time now. I believe that he is very happy with them.
Personally, I stick with E3D original equipment, only because it should work...

What was the problem with the hardened steel nozzles?

Hardened steel has somewhat different thermal behaviour to that of brass which potentially requires some changes to the slicer settings and speed of print. The Micro Swiss are plated brass so have similar properties to the original nozzles.

Thank you all for the replies. I think the issue I had with Hardened Steelin the past were related to the thermal differences that PJR mentioned.

Been using Micro Swiss nozzles for well over a year now on both my Prusa MK2's and my Folgertech FT-5. I have some new E3D copper alloy nozzles that are nickel plated coming in Wednesday as well as the new E3D copper alloy block. I'm trying these as I wanted to use the E3D silicon socks and they don't fit on the Micro Swiss nozzles.

Jeff,
The new E3D copper heatblock and nozzle work great. I did have to rerun my PID tuning to level out the heat curve on the hotend. I haven't tried any abrasive filaments on them yet but I don't imagine they will hold up quite as well as the MicroSwiss nozzle.

Looks like the copper plated e3d heater block is no longer available, am I correct?
Or maybe it's bundled with a kit?
I've been trying to find it on the e3d-online.com site.
