Large Temp Fluctuations

Hi All,
Just finished building my Mk2 and running the first prints. I notice the hot end temp fluctuates wildly around the set point. regardless of layer height, fan speeds, power modes.
Example of how it behaves. On PLA at a set point of 200 degrees the temp in a 10 second period will jump from 176 to 205 and various temps in between. Print seems to print ok and no noticeable effect on extrusion but the fluctuations are concerning especially when I move to more sensitive materials.

This is a kit build so not sure if something is not connected quite right or I need to adjust something to stabilise the temps. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Re: Large Temp Fluctuations

I recommend reading through this thread. It has a potential solution for you. Just change S215 to S200 for 200 degrees instead of 215.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Re: Large Temp Fluctuations

If temperature jumps 30°C up and down, it is most likely hardware failure, not wrong setting of PID parameters.
