Just Recieved assembled unit.....Q's?

Which Firmware should I install?
Is a computer connection required to update?

When I turn my unit on it says it has not been calibrated.
I thought this should already be done after assembly?

My spool arms do not go on.... are they supposed to be extremely tight?

You should really read the manual and glance at the support page...

I did
Assembled units are stated as being calibrated
Unit says it has not been
Support page is rather useless

You should still need to run the calibrate Z even if its assembled. Refer to the flow chart 6.3.1 in the manual to walk you through the initial steps. http://www.prusa3d.com/downloads/manual/prusa3d_manual_mk2s_en.pdf

Re: Just Recieved assembled unit.....Q's?

Welcome!!

I'm a bit of a noob as well. I got the kit a few weeks ago, so my steps were a bit different, but still had to do some of these steps. I'll try and answer your questions as best I can, and others can chime in if I completely bugger it up.

First off, as far as I know the units ship with the firmware to use, I know I didn't have to update mine at least. So you shouldn't have to worry about that. I'm not sure but I believe I've heard it's actually pretty difficult to update the firmware on the Rambo board that controls these machines.

Also, I found the spool holders to be fairly tight on the first push on as well, but I think they want it firm so they were going for a "snap" fit. Both the spool holder and the frame are fairly tough, so this is one case where you can just push a little harder.

Even though it was calibrated at the factory, it really doesn't take long to do it at home as well, and to be honest I would feel better that something didn't get jostled in shipping. Just follow the settings in the manual, for the most part you just select calibrate and let it do it's job. The same goes doubly for the Z calibration. If you reed a few other posts from yesterday, you will notice that because of the use of microsteps some advocate redoing Z calibration every time you shut of the machine, and everyone pretty much suggests doing it if you move the machine. It takes a few minutes, but should be mostly painless.

Hope that helps, it can be a bit frustrating getting going at first, but with just a bit of time I'm sure you will be printing to your hearts desire.

Have fun,

I just got my assembled unit too and I couldn't get the spool holders on either - I tried for half an hour and they refused to fit no matter how hard I pushed them. In the end I had to whittle down the notch where the frame fits at the top of the spool holder to get them to fit - these were the black ones if that makes a difference. Once shaved a tiny bit off they fit perfectly

The first thing you should do is to print some nice spool holders.

I have these, they works perfectly:
