Is the Mk3 PINDA V2 compatible with the Mk2 RAMBO?

I'd like to upgrade the PINDA probe on my Mk2 - like in the Mk2.5 upgrade kit. In the upgrade kit manual the four cables from the PINDA V2 are connected to two sockets on the RAMBO using a splitter adapter. I'd have to build a splitter adapter which I can do expertise-wise.
The shop offers a Mk3 PINDA V2 probe. Is that probe identical to the one contained in the Mk2S to Mk2.5 upgrade kit?

I'd like to see whether PET and ABS Z calibration works more reliably with the PINDA V2 with temperature compensation. I don't care about the Mk52 heatbed so I wouldn't buy the Mk2 to Mk2.5 upgrade kit.

Hi Andreas,

speaking from memory... I believe that the Pinda off the Mk3 is not directly compatible with the Mk2 Rambo, at the moment

the mk2 pinda has three connections and the mk3 pinda has 4 connections

we suspect the mk2.5 Pinda will have split connections to allocate for the thermistor lead.

regards Joan

I did just that, replaced the old PINDA v1 with the new PINDA v2. They are interchangable, but the connector is not the same !

Currently Prusa is providing Y split cable for the MK2.5 kit only, but if you are a skilled technician, you can change to PINDA v2 without the need of a Y cable.

The v2 PINDA has one extra lead, which is white in color, this is the thermistor wire, which needs to be routed to T1 thermistor connector (middle one), to the left pin as the rambo board is mounted on the prusa, with the connectors facing towards you.

The rest of the pins can be transplanted to the old 3 prong connector, which you can salvage from the old PINDA probe.

The housing for the connectors are these:

Pin contacts are these:

You will also need a crimping tool for the pins

You can refer to the new MK2.5 manual for further info.

I'm wondering if your setup really improved the problem with the temperature drift, since I'm not sure if the MK2S firmware really recognizes the thermistor from the PINDA probe. Do you have consistent first layers with different materials now like MK3?

If yes, I want this mod as well! My PINDA is temperature depended like crazy..

I've had a broken cable in the original PINDA and am just calibrating a replacement PINDA V2. I'll next work on enabling the MK2/S firmware PINDA temperature drift correction. Will post updates here...

Someone else did it already: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/others-archive--f82/fix-mk2-pinda-t14853-s10.html

At least you could try it 😉 How did you replace your connectors? Like dragos ionut.g described above?

Yes, I ordered parts from the sources dragos mentioned, and then I built the adapter as shown in the Mk2.5 upgrade manual . I also connected the temperature cable (white) already to the Rambo as described but I guess it is not used yet.
Will have a closer look at the modified firmware after upgrading my printer to Mk2S. Currently printing an upgraded extruder supporting the Noctua fan.
