Intermittent button on LCD controller
Hi everyone,
I've been happily using my i3 MK2S for a few months now, but recently the main encoder button has stopped working intermittently.
I can feel the button's physical click when I press it, but the interface does not respond and there is no audio click. I've tried with the original button cap, another that I printed myself, and without a button cap; i.e. by pressing the metal encoder directly to ensure there is no mechanical interference. All attempts produce the same result: button presses only register one in every 3-5 attempts.
I have also tried in several different states (printing, idle, immediately after boot, etc.) and by pressing the button at various angles. Some angles seem to work slightly better some of the time, but even this is not consistent.
I suspect this is a warranty issue with the encoder knob/LCD board but I'd like to know if there is anything I can try to fix this or at least confirm this before requesting a replacement.

No, this is maybe caused by a heavy load of the software.
Sometimes I have this phenomen too. After a few seconds all is OK again.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Thomas. I'm familiar with the lag caused by the load. I've had that 'issue' since day one, and as you mentioned it always went away after a few short seconds.
This problem is similar, but more pronounced (i.e. only 1 in 5 presses actually register) and it happens even when just switching between the info screen and main menu for example - something that worked flawlessly before. Also, no amount of waiting will guarantee the next press will work.
The issue is serious enough that it makes the LCD almost unusable sometimes, but I'm still open to the fact that it may be software related, so I'd like to find a way to prove it one way or the other. Is there some way to confirm the button presses are being registered, even if the interface is not responding? Maybe a diagnostic mode or something like that that?
