Interested in gettjng one, speed ?
Hi,
Im interested in getting one but i am wondering about what print speed it can get ?
Also how much does the actual print time differ from the time calculated in simplify 3d ?

Sounds like you have done a little research, but you probably need to do more. I've found the Simplify3D estimates are pretty accurate within 10 minutes. Since you mention Simplify3D, I hope you are also aware that there are SEVERAL factors that go into how fast a print is made. I urge you to check out the following Youtube channels:
Thomas Sanladerer He has videos that do center around the MK2.
Maker's Muse He has some real good beginner tutorials and what it takes to print something in 3D.
3D Printing Nerd Joel Telling; He has a lot of good reviews on printers and their capabilities.
Chuck Hellebuyck He has all sorts of practical prints and what you can do with a 3D printer.
Nillabean His channel uses only 1 printer, the MK2.
and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.
Re: Interested in gettjng one, speed ?
Hello,
speeds depend on a few factors like material, difficulty of model to print, and on how well you tuned in your settings like cooling, nozzle temp, retraction etc...
PLA works well for me at 2400mm/min f.ex, on normal to fine models, if U have easy models in PLA you can turn up the speed some.
Concerning the time calculated in simplify3D, it's quite accurate, I have noticed differences of about 10mins on a print of 2-3 hours, this seems to scale with longer prints, aka I had an estimated 19hrs print take like 1-1.5hrs longer than the estimate.
Happy printing
Serge

Actually this would be my 3rd printer
The thing is, when i do a certain print, my ultimaker original is faster than the estimate of s3d. My E3D big box with the same settings (speed, layer height, ...) is 50-60 % slower than the ultimaker, quality is the same.
Thats why I ask the question
Re: Interested in gettjng one, speed ?
I have done a few prints with simplify3D and it seems to underestimate for the MK2. At the same time though, I've also had it be spot on. When it comes to longer prints, I had one that was estimated at 13 hours and ended up taking 18 hours. It's generally not a reliable estimation so I just assume it's going to take a quarter longer than the estimated build time.

In a direct comparison, all things being equal and using default firmware settings and standard S3D settings, my Ultimaker 2+ is a fair bit faster than my Prusa MK2. But I don't think this is a terribly useful comparison. I am convinced with a bit of tweaking of the motion parameters, the MK2 can go faster than it is going now using its defaults while still producing excellent prints.
On the other hand: I think it is fair to say if you're looking for a high speed machine and budget doesn't matter, i don't think the MK2 is the best choice.
