i3 MK2S Upgrade
Bought an S upgrade kit a looooooong time ago and never installed it. My printer is not used much and I had it dialed in very nice. Hated to take a wrench to it and take it apart.
Decided to tackle the upgrade this morning and just finished. My observations are as follows:
It's great! There were a couple of things that kind of bugged me about the MK2 kit such at the Y motor kind of didn't sit perfectly straight and that the extruder wires tended to droop lower than I wish they did. Always figured someday I'd get a build plate full and it would hit something someday. Never did but it drooped more than it should.
The MK2S Upgrade kit addresses these items and a few more to include the good bearings and rods. I have a home brew i3 printer that I put lead screws and fancy bearings on and it improved it a lot.
Doing my first post-upgrade print now and so far it is looking good. After the build I ran a self-test and XYZ calibration and everything was spot on.
Probably shouldn't have waited so long to upgrade but pleased that I did.
I'm certain that you guys will come up with another upgrade (I know, you already did) that I'll probably need to buy or try.
