i3 MK2S startup scrolling message
Hi,
My printer has started giving me a weird message at start-up. The 00:21 video at the below address shows the entire message...
It happens both when the ambient temperature is too low (mintemp/mintemp bed) and when it's normal; when the printer is controlled by Pronterface and when it's running the SD. It happened once about a week ago and didn't do it again so I couldn't film it, but this morning it came on at every startup (about five times, because I tested the above-mentioned configurations). After the message has played through, the printer seems to work like normal, no problems at all.
Does anyone know what the message is about/what it says/why it's suddenly appearing?
Thanks,
Kryss

Hello?
Does nobody know anything about this?

Re: i3 MK2S startup scrolling message
What exactly do you mean with "weird" message? The startup sequence is for me the most weird thing to see on your video.
I would check if the LCD is connected properly, i.e. that the connecters are pushed in completely.
What ambient temperature do you have? What is "too low" and what is "normal" in your environment?
Re: i3 MK2S startup scrolling message
"Weird" as in scrolls of seemingly random code/symbols appear for 20 seconds.
The first time it happened, the ambient temp was 20 centigrade. The last four times, the temp ranged from 13 - 18 centigrade. Mornings are usually 8 - 15C (in the house) so I have to heat the room until it's at least 18C before the MINTEMP goes away.
And the LCD cables securely in their sockets.

Re: i3 MK2S startup scrolling message
Weird characters - check your cable management. Don't route LCD cables near high amp cables (heating, main input).
Err: MINTEMP - ambient temperature must be above 18°C. It's a feature. It prevents damage caused when temp. sensor falls off. If you want to print in very cold environment, you'll have to preheat the printer before turning on (e.g. using hair dryer) and start printing before it cools back down.
Re: i3 MK2S startup scrolling message
Thanks, I know what MINTEMP is for. I'll check the LCD cable routings...
So, no body knows what the message says, and why it always says the same thing?

Re: i3 MK2S startup scrolling message
Maybe you should try to re-flash the firmware.

Sounds like a good idea... what is 're-flashing the firmware' and how do I do it? 🙂
