I'm impressed by the quality but I have some issues
I have finally completed this weekend my build of the Prusa i3 MK2.
I was not expecting it to work right away but truth be told I did very little calibration. It would seem that my obsessing over the X-axis rods parallelism to the bed payed off. I watched somewhat relaxed the PINDA probe hit the 9 points. I will admit that they are not centered but not all that off either. I could probably tweak the build further.
That said, with just a bit of "V2 Calibration w/ Live adjust Z" I was printing in no time.
I was impressed by the quality of the treefrog print.
It was not however perfect 🙂
I printed 2 objects: Marvin and the Treefrog.
There seems to be a problem with retraction but I am not sure, the print had strings and "leaks"(this is PLA):
(It could also be a temperature issue)
Notice that that the PLA has leaked underneath.
As for the treefrog(it had quite a few strings):

So I am thinking I should at least reduce the temperature(this was 210).
What do you guys think?

Yes, I tend to print at 195/200 degrees with PLA, but first layer of 215 degrees. But it does rather depend on the filament manufacturer's suggestions.

Also, I am not loving the default filament holder, I fear it will lead to some flow issues....

Retraction has been a cause of some issues recently, but I have been running the V6 with 1.5mm retraction for about 9 months generally without problem. I did have one blockage just after I received the Mk2, but having rebuilt the extruder, nothing since.
Likewise with the filament holder. It was only about a month ago that I modified it to include roller bearings. The problem now is that full filament rolls can spin too far and get the filament tangled. The extruder motor is sufficiently powerful to not have any issues with the supplied holder.

Cristian, I was fighting the same issue when my Z probe was too low (in relation to nozzle). Sometimes, when you print some overhangs or other difficult parts, the extruded filament slightly curls up. If the probe is too low, it hits this part, stepper in silent mode loses steps and X axis goes off sync.
I completely got rid of this issue by raising the Z probe a bit up. At the moment my offset to nozzle is about 1,5-2,0mm (nozzle is lower than probe).
Also check if the X motor pulley is properly tightened.

This is exactly what happened, the filament got tangled so hard that the X carriage could not move properly into place!
I had to cut the filament and scrape the print(poor Adalinda will remaine headless...).
Could you post a pic of your spool holder? I have one for my other printer that looks like this(also on ball bearings + PTFE tube):

Did you try my Pinda protective hat ? It really helped me in my case so that moderate curled prints can slide under the probe instead of catching it ( http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/improvements-f14/pinda-hat-mk2--t1020.html ).
From what I have read here, 1-5 ~2 mm is close to the tolerance of the probe, 1 mm seems a better compromise.
Regarding the standard filament holder, I had several times an issue with new spool where the filament goes outside of the spool, which end potentially with filament blockage. Yes, just a pair of roller bearings that fit over the original holders. The I printed 2 different spool holder. One a cone (furthest away in the photo) and one a stepped cylinder.
The stepped cylinder is the better of the two as the cones tend to separate with a full spool.
The roller bearings are simply pressed into the cone/cylinder. The cylinder has steps 5mm wide sized according to the filament spools I have, but I should have had a larger step on the outside.
Bought a pack of 10 bearings here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321731375049 Delivery is quite expensive due to the weight.
Created STL files @ Tinkercad.com ; took about 5 minutes...

Orange ABS, I guess. It's the same material original parts are made of.

Yes, I asked the support guys and it's Orange ABS indeed. Wish I had ordered a spool.
The 20 euro transport fee is less attractive on smaller things 🙂

Also I think indeed the temperature was the problem. I left the AC on by mistake today and there were no strings on the print.
Instead it messed with the adhesion of the print bed and one of the feet is slightly warped(argh...).
So, yes, I think I need to print at a lower temperature with this PLA.
Does this mean my printer is properly calibrated ?

Only you can tell. You seem to be happy enough, so I would think it probably is.
For the lifting, try increasing the bed temp by 5 degrees.
Regarding the stringing, at the moment, it is over 30 degrees in my print room where it is usually low 20's and today I have noticed some light stringing. Dropping the extruder temp by 5 degrees from normal sorted it.

Indeed, the temperature is around 30 here as well.
When I left the AC on it was probably around 24 or so.

Greats tips Peter, especially about environment temperature, we have had a bit of a heatwave where I live in the UK. I have noticed some stringing too. Its a movable feast this 3D printing 🙂

Indeed, about the room temperature. I had a similar experience with another printer. Sometimes it feels like it's a really difficult science to get down.
I switched to another filament, this time I printed at a lower temperature(215 for the first layer, 195 for the rest). This time I got these little blobs(used to get them all the time on my other printer).
It was suggested to me in the past that this means the temperature was still to high.
Also my prints are sticking a bit hard lately - should I raise the Z height?
