How to activate debugging information to save all logs about calibration ?

Hello everybody,

I use currently the 3.0.11 firmware and I have a problem to do the calibration.

A person successful recordered all log during calibration ( https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/111 ).

I tried to do the same, but I haven't the detail of calibration, only few lines on the output of the Serial output on USB.

Only that :

if you compile the firmware yourself, you can set the verbosity_level inside the Marlin_main.cpp to 10 (instead of 0). then you'll get the detailed output during the different phases of the calibration process.
you'll find the lines if you search for int8_t verbosity_level =;
as far as i can remember, it'll appear 3 times.

Is it not possible, without re-compile the firmware, to activate the logs via a gcode command for example ?

yes, you need to compile the (altered) firmware. i don't know any way to activate the extended logs by gcode (and i guess i would have heard of).
but thank's to allen.d's script, compiling the firmware is no longer a pita.

Did you try to run it with the V (= verbosity_level) parameter? For the logs in the linked github issue, the author used M45 V20

I downloaded the source code and modified the verbosity_level to 99.

I uploaded the firmware and I relaunched all calibration.

Now I have these information about my calibration which failed.

But I can't determine the origin of the problem...

Either Pronterface, Octoprint or any serial emulator with 115200 baud, i.e. same like getting the log just other way around 🙂

EDIT: I'm just testing this myself (issuing M45 V20 over Octoprint): The XYZ calibration takes a bit more, the printer sends a lot of debug messages (see above) and pauses between points. It also moves between points to Y endstop - no idea why. BTW: perpendicular is not always perpendicular 😉

So no recompiled firmware is needed to have the debug output of XYZ calibration (as of 3.0.11)
