Higher edge count on circular shapes?

Hey guys,

This is actually not an Mk2 issue, since the Mk1 also was like this.
Whenever printing larger circular shapes, I can't help but notice that the edges get blown up to proportion which results in a look that isn't in par with the rest of the print quality.

Is this a firmware issue, or can it be changed in the slicer software (I use S3D)? How do I proceed to increase this edge count?

Hi Sascha

I think it most likely a model issue. Unfortunately, models don't scale well; they are made up of a fixed number of triangles. Increase the size of the model and the triangles will increase in size.

If you design models using tinkercad, you will soo what happens to a circle when it is increased in size.

So if I understand correctly, this is caused during the conversion to STL?

I would imagine that or the original design.

If you let me have a look at the files, I can give you better information.

Since it was both on models I've created and on stuff downloaded from Thingiverse, I was a bit confused over it.

I've now checked the file saving options to STL in Solidworks, and the default for "fine" is a 10 degree tolerance. I changed that down to 1 degrees, and the STL got way more precise when I opened it in S3D.
