help with layer start bumps

all,
I have an issue with layer start bumps. The picture attached is from another users post, but it shows exactly what I am asking about. Is there a way to reduce or eliminate such bumps?

I am using Prusa edition of Slic3r.

Mike

Theres no easy fix to reduce this so called "Z-Scar". Printing slower usually helps a bit. And spend some time with retraction settings in your favorite slicer. Higher retractions, settings like Coasting can help to reduce this effect. Some slicers have an option to randomize the location of the start point for each layer (or move them all to a specific area), which can help making it less apparent.

Some slicers also have seam hiding parameters and other fancy features to take care of this issue.
