Fitting the E3D thermal sock
I've just bought the E3D thermal sock for the hot end, and I am having difficulty fitting it.

Do I need to dismantle the hot end to fit it? It seems like the thermister cable is too close to the block and the fan duck cover (printed with HOT on it) does not have enough space to fit the sock.
If anyone has these, how did you fit them?

Just remove the front fan and nozzle. I fitted my sock while assembling the extruder and ensured that the thermistor cable was not pulled tight. You may have to re-cable the bundle to loosen it somewhat.

Re: Fitting the E3D thermal sock
I've ordered socks as well, and a complete replacement hotend. I could not figure out if I have the newer version of the hotend (apparently there is an older version and the socks will not fit them).
I wanted spares anyways.
Re: Fitting the E3D thermal sock
I do believe the older style is the one where the thermistor is held In by screw on the side of the block...
Re: Fitting the E3D thermal sock
Thanks. I will try unscrewing the fan and cover, and cutting the thermistor cable ties to fit it.
Re: Fitting the E3D thermal sock
You can slide it in from the left side. No need to unscrew anything.
Re: Fitting the E3D thermal sock
I don't think that will work, I have already tried.
The left hand side is where the thermistor is attached, and the cables are bound very tight to the back of the heater block.
